TEMI ABODERIN ALAO TO SPEAK AT PRIDE WOMEN CONFERENCE 2018

Temi Aboderin-Alao, designer, plus size activist, CEO of Goldencurvy agency, and the founder of the first-ever Plus Size Fashion Week Africa, who is very passionate about women empowerment, has joined the list of speakers at the Pride Women Conference 2018.

Mrs Aboderin-Alao has a BSc in Internet Computing from Hull University and a Master of Science Degree in Business Information System from Brunel University. She also has a PhD research degree from Brunel, with her thesis on the growth of mobile telecommunications in Africa. She is a Prince2 Certified Project Manager practitioner and she attended London College of Fashion where she acquired the requisite skills to start her own fashion business.

Mrs. Aboderin-Alao’s passion is to make plus-size ladies look attractive, stand out, be bold and proud. She was one of the first to start a holistic brand that focuses on plus-size women to address the need for proper fashion retail therapy, styling and beauty services specifically for curvy and plus-size ladies.

As a pioneer of plus-size empowerment in Nigeria, her organisation – GoldenCurvy Agency has trained and provided a platform for plus-size models in Nigeria and outside Nigeria.

In 2011 she launched her plus-size brand JPKINGDOM and JPKOUTURE. By Hadassah was also launched in 2012 to empower plus-size women as well as make them the beautiful princesses that they are. As Mrs. Aboderin-Alao puts it, “I really wanted them to be celebrated in a kingdom and then be part of a world that believes that they are just as beautiful, just as talented and just as relevant as any other person.”

The award-winning designer believes that hard work, dedication and perseverance along with prayers, reading and listening to the word of God, and a lot of self- encouragement are essential to achieve one’s set goals.

At the Pride Women Conference 2018, Mrs. Temi Aboderin-Alao will be speaking on Creating a positive atmosphere: the key to healthy emotional well-being.

The Pride Women Conference, with the motto Emotional Well-being is our Goal, is scheduled to hold its annual conference on May 18, 2018 at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Victoria Island, Lagos. The theme of the 2018 conference is Women: Work, Relationship and Marriage – The Conversation Continues.

Some of the other speakers lined up for this year’s event are:

  • Maymunah Kadiri, the celebrity shrink, will be speaking on Everyone Has Some Madness in Them – Why Mental Health Issues Should Not Be Stigmatised.
  • Barrister Nneka Juliet Ezeani, a relationship expert, will be speaking on Single and Searching – Steps to Take, Pitfalls to Avoid.
  • Oluwatoyin ‘Bode-Abass, a wellness, nutrition, weight management and lifestyle consultant, will be speaking on When Conception is a Challenge – The Arduous Journey from Infertility to Motherhood.
  • Patricia Dzifa Mensah-Larkai, a communication and leadership coach, corporate trainer, public speaker and mentor, will be speaking on Encouraging Positive Competition Hinged on Collaboration Among Women.
  • Bolaji Okusaga, a strategy and brand expert with wide experience in the media, marketing, public relations and banking, will share his insights on The Mind of a Man.

The 2018 conference is billed to live up to its motto by addressing how we can attain a healthy balance in life and work.
