Toun O. Sonaiya is a media expert with over 30 years of broadcasting experience in Nigeria and the UK. Co-founder and CEO of Women Radio 91.7 FM, Nigeria’s only women-focused radio station, she amplifies women’s voices and promotes gender equity.  

Toun convenes the annual Voice of Women Conference and Awards (VOW), a platform that drives social change in advocating for women’s inclusion in governance through the VOW 2022–2027 Agenda. A UN Women-certified trainer, she founded the First Female Academy Women Radio Centre and Women in Radio Development (WINRAD) to train and empower female journalists.

Ranked among the top 25 most powerful women in Nigerian journalism, she has led nationwide media training on gender-sensitive reporting and women’s political participation. She is also an EU influencer against gender-based violence, and an inductee of Nigeria’s Hall of Fame.
