Iyom Josephine Anenih is a former Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development of Nigeria. She trained both as an educationist and a lawyer. She is a passionate women’s rights activist, an ardent politician, and an outstanding gem in the legal profession.
A seasoned result-oriented, dedicated and experienced gender and development executive with exceptional experience both at national and international levels, Iyom Anenih has more than forty years firsthand experience in diverse fields of legal, humanitarian, women and gender, and political affairs in the public and private spheres. Iyom Anenih was the Chairperson of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) from 1994 to 2001. She was a participant at the Senior Executive Course of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos in 2009 and a delegate to the National Conference 2014. She is currently the Chairperson of the Women Interest Group Forum of the African Bar Association (AFBA), Founder/Chairperson of Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation, Co-Founder/President of Women Foundation of Nigeria (WFN), and Founder/President of Nkata Ndi Inyom Igbo (NNII).
