He is the former Managing Director and chief Executive Officer of First International Bank Liberia Limited, and President of the Liberian Bankers Association, the professional body of Chief Executives of Commercial Banks in Liberia. Prior to joining the bank as CEO in 2009, Sylva worked in various commercial and merchant banks across Nigeria, spanning a period of over two decades. He graduated from Universities of Ife and Lagos Nigeria and holds first and second degrees in Economics, Finance and Management, and has attended several seminars and manpower development programs in Entrepreneurship, Banking and Management, at INSEAD Business School France, Columbia University New York.

Ashimole holds a doctorate degree earned from Paris School of Business (PSB), Paris, France.
